Recently, I had the chance to talk to BomBassic about their sound and what it is like to work as a duo. Rob and Bruce grow up together in Long Island, NY and first started working together on their original hip hop group. Then they started the BomBassic project 4 years ago when they moved to Asheville, NC.

They just recently got back from a small tour of the South, which they did all the booking themselves. Their time spend traveling was a great learning experience for them, and they had the expectation that they would have small crowds at their shows, but this did not stop the duo from making their tour happen! The main goal of their tour was to connect with people who would not necessarily listen to their music on their own.

Bruce mentioned during our interview that he found it very interesting to travel through the deep South for the first time and talked about how they found inspiration in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The guys had the opportunity to tour the actual Muscle Shoals studios where people like The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Elton John, and Aretha Franklin to name a few. Finding influences of the deep soul sound they love during their tour in the South.

We talked about the overall goal of BomBassic and their sound. Their goal when creating a set is to "tell a story, and to tell a story you need dynamic tracks that includes chill tracks to get people moving, and funky tracks and we have been working really hard in the studio to come up with a catalog of tracks to tell that story," says Rob from BomBassic.

BomBassic focuses on performing original tracks or collaborations that they make with other artist. Funky, sexy, soulful sound of BomBassic still has those influences of hip hop intertwined into the melodies. Stay up to date with their upcoming shows in the Asheville, NC area and the surrounding area.
